Here it is … the second installment of my ongoing series sharing rarely heard recordings of Gil Scott-Heron. This edition includes a Black History Month appropriate live recording of DOT-DOT-DIT-DIT-DOT-DOT-DASH which segues into BLACK HISTORY/THE WORLD. And I tossed in a tasty live version of LADY DAY AND JOHN COLTRANE.

I recommend you download the following mp3 filed (right click on '#2 GSH AUdioBlog' and 'SAVE AS') and then play it off your computer.

Hey there … in February I began sharing rarely heard live/studio recordings from Gil Scott-Heron on the Gil Scott-Heron Discussion Board. I plan to post many of my past/future contributions to the GSH Discussion Board on this TALES OF GIL SCOTT-HERON blog. By no means is this blog meant to compete with the GSH Discussion Board. Instead, this blog exists to host my GSH AudioBlogs as well as other audio/visual things connected to Gil or Brian Jackson, his long-time collaborator. Dig?

First up is an AudioBlog I originally posted on the GSH Discussion Board back on Feb 2, 2006. I recommend you download the following mp3 file (right click on 'GSH AudioBlog' and 'SAVE AS') and then play it off your computer.

GSH AudioBlog | 23:10 minutes (15.9MB at 96kbps)

Tracks include:
+ LET ME SEE YOUR ID (1985)
+ THREE MILES DOWN (live – March 14, 1990)
+ SHUT'UM DOWN (live – Reggae Sunsplash 1983)

Enjoy.
