On April 19, 2000, Gil Scott-Heron appeared on a BBC television interview show called HARD TALK. The interview is fascinating as Gil gets asked point blank about his drug issues. And its fascinating in how brilliant a man Gil is no matter his state of mind, body, and voice. This AudioBlog shares the full twenty-four minute interview. Good stuff.

Gil turned 57 earlier this month … April 1^st to be exact. On the 4^th GSH AudioBlog, we celebrate Gil’s birthday with two audio snippets from Donnie Letts’ documentary on Gil from 2004. Also included is a tune Gil did with Bernard “Pretty” Purdie titled, ARTIFICIALNESS. We close out the episode with a Happy Birthday ditty for Gil.
